Cricket Formats and Competitions

T20 Cricket

Just 20 overs per side — currently the most popular format. Big hits, fast wickets, and last-over excitement make T20 ideal for betting. BPL and IPL are both played in this format. A match wraps up in around three and a half hours, so bet results come through quickly.

ODI Cricket

50-over matches. The traditional format of international cricket — the ICC Cricket World Cup and most major Bangladesh Tigers series are played here. Longer matches mean more betting markets — separate markets are available for innings totals, powerplay runs, and last-10-over runs.

Test Cricket

Five-day matches — cricket's most demanding and tactical format. A draw is a valid result in Test cricket, so there are three separate match-winner odds. Pitch behaviour, weather, and batting order play a much bigger role here. The longer format means the most in-play betting opportunities of any format.

Competitions most followed by Bangladeshi cricket fans

Domestic

BPL

Bangladesh Premier League — the country's franchise T20 league. The most familiar competition for local fans.

Subcontinent

IPL

India's Indian Premier League — the biggest T20 tournament in the world. Viewership in Bangladesh is huge.

International

T20 World Cup

The ICC T20 World Cup — betting interest peaks with every Tigers match.

Series

International Series

Bilateral ODI and Test series — Bangladesh Tigers home and away series run throughout the year.

Cricket, Football and Other Sports

baji in sports betting dashboard cricket and football

Alongside cricket, baji in lets you bet on football, tennis, basketball, and many other sports. However, the style of betting varies considerably from sport to sport.

🏏 Cricket

Detailed markets based on innings, overs, and wickets. Smaller markets such as toss, partnerships, or next wicket are also available within a match. Results come quickly in T20.

⚽ Football

90-minute matches — match winner, number of goals, handicap, and corners markets are popular. A draw is a common result, so three sets of odds are available.

🎾 Tennis / Others

Set and game-based markets. Handicap and service-break markets are also available. There are fewer markets than cricket, but live betting is just as active.

Because cricket matches last longer, in-play betting opportunities are far greater than in football — especially in Test and ODI. In a Test match, odds shift with every over and every wicket across five days, and each change creates a new betting opportunity.

Popular Betting Markets

A wide range of markets is available for cricket betting at baji in. Below is a simple introduction to the 7 most familiar markets.

Most Popular

Match Winner

A bet simply on which team will win the match. Two sets of odds in T20 and ODI (Team A and Team B), three in Test (including the draw). Example: Team A odds 2.10, Team B odds 1.75 — a ৳500 bet on Team B returns ৳875 if Team B wins.

Coin Toss

Toss Winner

A bet on which team will win the toss before the match begins. The result does not depend on anything happening on the field, so odds are generally close to even for both teams. This market is known for delivering a quick result.

Batsman

Top Run Scorer

A bet on which batsman will score the most runs for a specific team or across the whole match. The team's batting order and the nature of the pitch play an important role here.

Runs

Total Runs Over/Under

The bookmaker sets a target (e.g. 165 runs). You bet on whether the total will go over or stay under it. The market moves quickly based on pitch conditions and weather.

Wickets

Top Wicket Taker

A bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in the match. The pace-spin mix and pitch behaviour influence this market. In T20 it is a tense market because a big over can change everything.

Multi Bet

Multi Bet (Multiple Selections)

Combining multiple matches or markets into a single bet. If all selections are correct, the payout is based on the combined odds — for example 1.50 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.59 (rounded), so a ৳100 bet returns ৳459 if all three are correct; if one is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost.

Handicap

Run Handicap

The weaker team is given a virtual run advantage. For example, if Team B gets a 15-run handicap, those runs are added to their final total for settlement purposes. This brings the odds for both teams closer together and makes the betting more balanced.

How to Read Odds

Odds are displayed in three formats — decimal, fractional, and American. baji in normally uses decimal, but knowing all three helps you follow any platform.

Team Decimal Fractional American Return on a ৳200 bet
Team A (Underdog) 2.50 3/2 +150 ৳500 (৳300 profit + ৳200 stake returned)
Team B (Favourite) 1.80 4/5 -125 ৳360 (৳160 profit)

Decimal Odds

The simplest format. Multiply your stake by the odds to get the total return. Example: Team A odds 2.50, ৳200 stake — if you win: 2.50 × ৳200 = ৳500 returned (৳300 profit); if you lose, ৳200 is gone.

Fractional Odds

The British method — the numerator is profit, the denominator is stake. At 3/2 odds, a ৳200 stake returns a profit of (3 ÷ 2) × ৳200 = ৳300, plus the ৳200 stake back. For favourite Team B at 4/5 odds, a ৳200 stake returns a profit of (4 ÷ 5) × ৳200 = ৳160.

American Odds (+/-)

Positive (+) shows how much profit a ৳100 stake makes — Team A at +150 means ৳150 profit. Negative (-) shows how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit — Team B at -125 means a ৳125 stake wins ৳100 profit.

A simple way to remember

Decimal odds never go below 1.00 — 1.00 means your stake is returned with no profit. The higher the odds, the greater the potential profit but the lower the chance of winning. Betting is for entertainment — odds are not a guarantee of income.

Live In-Play Betting

Live

You can still place bets after a match has started — that is in-play betting. Odds change after every wicket and every over. In-play betting is popular in cricket for particular reasons:

  • Odds shift when wickets fall: If a strong team loses three quick wickets, the opposition's odds shorten — the match momentum changes.
  • The picture becomes clearer after the powerplay: After the first 6 overs you can gauge a team's tempo, making in-play markets easier to analyse.
  • Duckworth-Lewis (rain): When rain arrives, the target changes and so do the markets. In-play bettors need to stay alert.
  • Last-over tension: 15 runs needed off the final two overs — odds shift minute by minute in situations like this. You can track these moments in real time on baji in.

In-play betting leaves little time to decide. It helps to understand the markets beforehand. The baji in App shows live scores and real-time odds together.

Practical Tips for Cricket Betting

  • Set a fixed budget: Decide how much you are willing to bet before each match. It is better not to put a large portion of your total budget on a single bet. Betting is entertainment — do not increase your stakes to chase losses.
  • Understand the format: Betting in T20 and Test is quite different. A team may perform well in T20 but their performance in the same format may differ in Test.
  • Focus on one market: Start by understanding one market well (such as match winner). Running too many markets at once splits your attention.
  • Keep track of pitch and weather: Run rates tend to be lower on spin-friendly pitches; pace-friendly pitches tend to produce more wickets. Cross-reference this information with the markets.
  • Be careful with multi bets: Multi bets offer higher odds, but if any one selection is wrong you lose the entire bet. Adding more than three selections increases the risk considerably.
  • No rushing in live betting: Odds change fast in in-play betting. Make decisions based on judgement, not emotion. Taking a break now and then is a good idea.

Responsible Betting

Betting is for enjoyment, not as a source of income. Staking more to recover losses is harmful.

Cricket Betting FAQ

A T20 match is only 20 overs, so betting results come quickly and a single big over can change the whole match. ODI is 50 overs — team pacing and partnerships matter more here. ODI also has more markets: innings totals, powerplay runs, mid-over wickets, and so on. In Test cricket, a draw is possible, so there are three sets of odds. The speed of in-play odds and the number of markets differ across each format.

In regular (pre-match) betting, you place your bet before the match starts and the odds are fixed. In in-play betting, you can bet while the match is in progress — odds update in real time after every ball, wicket, and over. This lets you make decisions based on how the match is going, but you have less time to think, so you need to stay calm and decide quickly.

Yes. You can combine multiple matches or different markets from the same match into a multi bet. The odds for each selection are multiplied together, so the combined odds are higher. However, if any one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost. Example: odds of 1.50 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.59 across three selections, so a ৳100 bet returns ৳459 — but if even one loses, the full ৳100 is gone.

If a match is cancelled or reduced due to rain, bets are generally voided and the stake is returned according to the bookmaker's rules, or settled based on the revised result under the Duckworth-Lewis method. Rules may vary for each market — visit the Terms & Conditions page for full details on baji in's rules.

Yes. In the American system, negative (-) odds mean that team is the favourite — it shows how much you need to stake to win ৳100. Example: -125 means a ৳125 stake wins ৳100. Positive (+) odds mean that team is the underdog — +150 means a ৳100 stake wins ৳150. In decimal format, the favourite's odds are usually below 2.00 and the underdog's above 2.00.
